(July 7, 2008 – Lebanon,
Tennessee)
The Good Guys Rod
and Custom Association recently cruised into Nashville’s LP Field, home
of the Tennessee Titans, for their third “Nationals” competition in Music
City. Accompanying the organization were some of the nation’s hottest rods
and coolest customs, seriously competing for prestigious status and prizes.
The participants seemed to enjoy their trip to the country music capital
city and several members of the popular association were also treated to a
scenic drive around Wilson County, home of Classic Cars Southeast. This was
due to some new check points in the association’s pre-event, “poker run”.
This year’s run included a special “check-in” at the Lebanon based
dealership and an additional stop at close by Fiddler’s Grove, located
within the James E. Ward Center complex (which is also home to the very
popular Wilson county Fair).
The “poker run”
competition commenced after official registration at the Airport Marriott
Hotel. The first stop was a favorite Nashville historical attraction, the
Hermitage (home of Andrew Jackson, our nation’s seventh president), followed
by Cars Southeast and Fiddler’s Grove in Lebanon. The run ended with a
kick-off party at Advanced Plating in Nashville. At each stop along the
way, players were greeted by Good Guys volunteers where they randomly
selected a playing card. This chosen card was indicated on their
registration documentation by the volunteers and after all stops were made,
the participant with the best poker hand was recognized as the winner.
While in Lebanon, many participants took a much needed lunch break at Lil’
Paul’s Smoke House BBQ Restaurant, a popular eatery that is frequented by
many of the car club cruise-in participants that visit Classic Cars
Southeast.
“We were very excited
to have the Good Guys include our facility as a stop on their Poker
Run”, said Dale Nunnery, founder and president of Classic Cars Southeast.
“We always have some of their participants and attendees visit with us
during the annual competition in Nashville, however, it was an honor to be
included as an official component of this year’s schedule”. Classic Cars
Southeast buys, sells and restores investment quality antique, classic and
muscle cars. The company’s “all-indoor” “museum-quality” showroom is a
“world-class” facility for the most discerning car enthusiast and normally
has fifty to sixty vehicles on hand at any given time. The showroom has
been the focal point for numerous photos & videos and has been included in
several TV productions. These media outlets, along with aggressive Internet
exposure, have helped to acquire recognition from local, national and
international automobile enthusiasts. Additional information on the
dealership can be found at
www.classiccarsse.com.
Not only does Classic Cars Southeast have one
of the southeast’s largest world-class 28,000 sq. ft. showrooms, they also
have a state-of-the-art classic car restoration center. Any automotive
project can be completed in this 10,500 sq. ft. facility where the
professional staff can deliver a full service maintenance program from minor
tune-ups and engine service to a full-blown “frame-off” restoration.
Hundreds of rods, customs
and classic automobiles rolled into LP field. The fun-filled three day
event featured competitive and entertaining components such as show & shine,
vendor exhibits, swap meet & cars for sale corral, the Street Challenge
Autocross, model car show, poker run and much more family oriented
entertainment. Vehicles of all types were involved in this year’s event
which attracted enthusiasts from near and far. Delano, MN residents Glen
and Doris Cummings planned the event as a family affair. They joined their
son and daughter-in-law for the long drive in their respective vehicles and
included all three grandchildren in the experience of a lifetime. This was
just about the nicest family anyone would ever have the pleasure of
meeting. Additional information on the Good Guy’s Rod & Custom Association
can be found at

Volunteers, Chuck

hand at Classic Cars Southeast to officially greet and record “poker run”
participants associated with the third annual Good Guys Nationals that were
held in Nashville.

Glen Cummings (right)
and his son, Rick, enjoyed their “poker run” tour of Classic Cars Southeast
along with Rick’s son. The Cummings men drove their respective classic
vehicles all the way from Delano, MN and turned their participation with the
Good Guys Nationals into a family affair.

daughters in front of their favorite vehicle on display at the Classic Cars
Southeast showroom. The real reason these ladies were drawn to this
beautiful red 1963 Ford Thunderbird coupe might be because it was once owned
by country music superstar, Alan Jackson.
