TV Personality Enjoys A Trip Down “Memory Lane” at Classic Car Dealership

________________________________________________________________________________

(March 7, 2008) - Joe Elmore is best known nationally as co-host of cable’s popular SPIKE TV show, “Horsepower”.  Locally he is also known as host and producer of the Emmy-award winning Tennessee Cross Roads, a WNPT production in Nashville that is broadcast by all PBS stations throughout Tennessee.  Recently Joe took time out of his busy schedule to visit the Classic Cars Southeast showroom in Lebanon.  He is no stranger to the facility and this trip was in response to an invitation by the dealership staff so they could receive a “first hand” update on his newest car related project.

It’s a well known fact that the combination of Joe’s love and appreciation for classic autos has turned into an absolute passion, possibly equal only to that of his friend, Dale Nunnery, founder and president of Classic Cars Southeast.  The two often reminisce about an enjoyable ride together a couple of years back.  The setting was in Wilson County on a beautiful winding country road close to the dealership.  Their ride was in an immaculate 67 Chevelle super sport convertible with a 396 engine and 4 speed transmission.  The event was associated with production of a Tennessee Cross Roads segment and filming almost wasn’t accomplished due to the two car enthusiasts debating on which one would be driving.  Fortunately they reached a compromise and the final edited program received great acclaim from many car enthusiasts.

Joe’s latest project is a new music CD containing some great “Oldies”, performed by Elmore himself, that relate directly to the classic cars he enjoys seeing at the dealership.  His passion for cars, coupled with his appreciation for music, has resulted in a “must have” addition to the musical collection of any classic auto enthusiast.  Every song on this one-of-a-kind CD has a very distinct car-related theme, some are old favorites like “Mustang Sally”, “Little GTO” and “Fun, Fun, Fun”.  However, listeners are in for a pleasant surprise, as four songs included in the collection are originals that were written by Joe.

“It’s the answer to a lifelong dream for me,” said the popular TV personality, “I’ve been into rock ‘n roll and cars since I was a kid.  This project, a CD of cool songs with car themes, is a perfect match for what I’ve been doing on the SPIKE TV network.”  “Horsepower”, now in its 11th year of production, is a great combination of how-to and lifestyle segments.  Elmore and co-host Mike Galley perform power buildups on all kinds of engines and high performance street cars, they also cover racing and car show events around the country.  It’s one of four shows in Spike TV’s two-hour Powerblock every Saturday and Sunday morning.  In fact, a classic 1961 Impala, from the Classic Cars Southeast inventory, was recently the focus of Powerblock’s “Flashback” segment.  It featured Dale Nunnery demonstrating the auto’s capabilities on some Wilson county back roads close to the Nashville SuperSpeedway.  All the TV shows are produced by RTM Productions in Franklin, TN.

Being producer and performer on the unique “Gearheads” CD was more than an absolute pleasure for Elmore, he has a very personal mission associated with the project.  Proceeds from sales are going to the Threshold Center in Orlando, Florida, a special charity that helps autistic children.  It’s a multi-faceted center designed for education, medical treatment and residential housing for victims of autism, young and old. “I have a son with autism,” said Elmore, “and I know, firsthand, how difficult it is to find proper training and day-to-day care for autistic kids”.  “I am greatly impressed with how the Threshold Center is addressing so many special needs, even providing residential group housing so that older autistic individuals can live somewhat independently”.

Long before launching his successful television career, Elmore was bitten by the music bug.  It was a common sight, in earlier years, to see him singing and playing bass as a member of numerous Southern bands.  He and lifelong friend, Paul Lovelace, spent many years in Memphis and as “band mates”, they both became heavily influenced by the delta city’s blues and rockabilly music styles.  Now they have regrouped to co-produce the “Gearheads” CD.

Lovelace, a former vice-president at Capitol Records, spent over two decades in the record industry, primarily in marketing and promotion.  However, in recent years, his attention has been focused on music production and his experience in the industry certainly paid off for “Gearheads”.  He has assembled a great hand-picked band of “A list” Nashville studio musicians and background vocalists to produce the best possible product.  “This was one of the most fun projects I’ve ever been involved with”, said Lovelace.   “All the musicians deserve a “pat on the back” for their enthusiastic embrace and support from conception to final product.  They all seemed to really enjoy putting a modern-day, high-energy feel to the old car songs they heard as kids”

“Gearheads” is being released on Lovelace’s independent label, CDX, and is currently being sold via the official Powerblock website, www.powerblocktv.com.  It will also be promoted on all Powerblock TV shows.  Elmore and Lovelace are even discussing plans to take “Gearheads” on the road, just like in the old days.  “We played in bands together years ago.” Lovelace said “and I think it would be a blast to do it again, especially for venues like big car shows.   If we do it, we will definitely do it right, with a killer band and the works.”

SPIKE TV host, Joe Elmore (left) and long time friend, retired RCA Music executive, Paul Lovelace, pay a visit to Classic Cars Southeast in Lebanon.  The two friends have combined their many years of respective entertainment experiences and co-produced a new CD containing “oldie” classic songs about the classic cars of yesteryear, all performed by Elmore.  Joe and Paul are currently touring together to promote the CD.
