-----FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE-----
California couple relocates to Rutherford County and quickly
falls in love with the middle Tennessee lifestyle
Gary and Joyce
Downing recently retired from careers in California and
relocated to Middle Tennessee. Their son has been a resident of
Rutherford County for about 12 years and retirement allowed the
couple a great opportunity to move closer to him, their
daughter-in-law and 2 grandsons.
Once Joyce and Gary were settled
in Murfreesboro, they began to see a lot of classic and antique automobiles
in the area. Thus, a search began for something they both had been wanting
for some time, that search led them to Classic Cars Southeast in Lebanon.
That's where they purchased a 1934 Dodge 5 window coupe "Street Rod",
powered by a Chevy 350 engine. "We both have had a long-time desire to own
a Street Rod", said Joyce, "once retired and relocated, there was no time
like the present to fulfill that dream". The couple isn't directly linked
with any particular automotive club, however, they can be seen most any
Friday evening chatting with other enthusiasts attending the Murfreesboro
Hot Rod Club gatherings at Mercury plaza.
Owning a Hot Rod has become a
passion for many. It allows the enthusiast to venture far beyond the normal
cookie-cutter, mass-produced street vehicle. Anyone can become removed from
the average "mainstream" mode of transportation by owning a vehicle as plain
or unique as desired by the individual. "Our 34 dodge was in the condition
we wanted", said Gary, "the only things we will need to do to it is,
possibly, add some electrical upgrades or optional cosmetic features".
"Project cars" can consume an enormous amount of time and money, however,
ask any owner and you will quickly hear that it's well worth the effort and
expense.

cruise-in with members of the Murfreesboro Hot Rod Club.
